Here’s the monoprint of the heron on a porcelain plate that I posted a while ago, now glazed with a shiny clear glaze. I’m happy to see that the black in the print came through pretty well in the firing, as well as the texture from the cotton block. I’m going to have to make some more of these soon!

Another new technique (sgraffito) that I’ve been experimenting with lately – inspired yet again by Diana Fayt’s e-course on surface treatment.

Another project from Diana Fayt’s e-course: prints on clay made from a carved rubber block. I’ll be curious to see if the green pops more once the plate is glazed and fired.

This is one of the projects that I’ve been working on in my Surfacing E-Course with Diana Fayt. The image on the left side is the “inked” block, and the image on the right is the print it made on clay.

My 15-year-old neighbor helps me in my studio on Fridays. Today, she made test tiles of all of my underglaze colors – something I’ve never had time to do. She did a beautiful job! These will definitely come in handy for the e-course I’m doing with Diana Fayt, one of my all-time favorite potters.

I really like the way this amber/brown and blue glaze combination breaks over the patterns I’ve stamped on the rims of these plates and bowls. I also like the new clay body I’ve just started working with – #45 Buff Stoneware from Laguna/Miller. These pieces were slab-rolled fairly thin, and so far I’ve noticed hardly any slumping, the rims have held up, and the bottoms are nice and flat. This group should work very well for everyday use in the kitchen – just what I was hoping for!
